Financial Counseling Pilot Project
Helping Clients Make the Most of Free Financial Counseling
Like most people, individuals released after wrongful conviction could use a hand from a financial advisor. But very few of our clients have access to high quality financial advising. What would it look like to change that?
This year we are launching a pilot project to provide clients with individualized counseling from Certified Financial Planners trained to advise low-to-moderate income individuals. We coordinate the program and provide participants with the help they need to take action on the plans they develop.
This project is made possible by grants from the Foundation for Financial Planning and an anonymous donor.
Our 2023 Pilot included:
60 CLIENTS
AND THEIR FAMILIES PARTICIPATING
3 ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS
WITH A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER FOR EACH PARTICIPANT
8 HOURS
OF FOLLOW-UP PROVIDED TO HELP CLIENTS IMPLEMENT THEIR FINANCIAL PLANS
“The Foundation for Financial Planning is proud to support After Innocence’s efforts to connect exonerees with CFP® volunteers eager to provide quality, personalized financial guidance to help them rebuild their financial lives.”
